Jamie-Rose Guarrine

A 2007 Sullivan Foundation Award Winner, soprano Jamie-Rose Guarrine returned to the San Francisco Opera's prestigious Merola Program in the summer of 2007 where she sang the role of Veronique in the world premiere of Hotel Casablanca by Thomas Pasatieri, “…Bringing a winning vulnerability to the role of the aspiring actress.” (San Francisco Chronicle)

For the Minnesota Opera, Ms. Guarrine has sung Zerlina in Don Giovanni, which was hailed by Opera News as “feminine and fresh voiced,” and “a scene-stealing surprise” by the St. Paul Pioneer Press. As a second year as a Resident Artist for the Minnesota Opera's 2006-2007 season she performed Rose in Lakmé and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro. Ms. Guarrine returned to the Minnesota Opera stage in 2008, for the American premiere of The Fortunes of King Croesus, under the baton of Harry Bicket with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and in the summer of 2008 made her debut with Santa Fe Opera as Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. In the 2008-2009 season Ms. Guarrine sings Susanna in Utah Opera’s Le nozze di Figaro, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with Kentucky Opera, and will appear in concert with the Madison Symphony and the St Paul Chamber Orchestra.

Recent concert appearances include the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas Spectacular, where she previously made her debut singing Mater Gloriosa in Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 the previous season. While a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ms. Guarrine was a soprano soloist in Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, of which the Capital Times wrote, “Guarrine's rich, thrilling vibrato soars throughout her solos, reaching the rafters in full coloratura form on more than one occasion. She easily leads the orchestra and chorus when it's her turn to perform.”

In 2005 at Central City Opera, she was seen in the roles of Isabelle and Madeline in The Face on the Barroom Floor and Tiny in Paul Bunyan (youth performance). Other notable credits include Frasquita in Carmen for Madison Opera, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel for Opera for the Young, and Laurette in Bizet's Docteur Miracle for the Florentine Opera.

Ms. Guarrine completed her Master of Music and Doctorate Degrees at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where she was seen in a variety of roles including Despina in Cosí fan Tutte, Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Atalanta in Xerxes, Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia, and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor. Ms. Guarrine is a recipient of the McGlone Award for Outstanding Apprentice Artist from Central City Opera, a finalist for the Jensen Foundation, and a first place winner at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in the Wisconsin and Minnesota Districts.
