Amanda Tarver
Amanda Tarver, mezzo-soprano, recently contracted with Chicago Opera Theatre’s Young Artist Program, makes her home in Chicago. She is an avid performer in theatre, musical theatre, and opera around the country. Some of her opera roles include Mrs. Grose in Turn of the Screw, Maman, La Tasse Chinoise & La Libellule in L’Enfant et les Sourtileges, Elmire in Tartuffe, Ma Moss in The Tenderland, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Grandma in Little Red Riding Hood and Il Principessa in Suor Angelica, Ms. Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief. Ms. Tarver was proud to perform the role of Mary in last year’s Chicago premiere of Ronald Perrera’s The Yellow Wallpaper. A native of Baton Rouge, LA, she was Regional Finalist five years in a row for the MONC auditions in the Gulf Coast Region. This past year she was a Regional Finalist for MONC Upper Midwest Region, receiving First Place for the Wisconsin District. Ms. Tarver also has frequent engagements as a soloist in many symphonic and oratorio works performed around the country. In the Spring of 2006 she performed as mezzo soloist for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Oak Park Symphony. Later that spring she collaborated as mezzo-soprano soloist with Maestra Jane Glover, and bass-baritone, Samuel Ramey in Verdi’s Requiem. This past May, Ms Tarver completed her Masters in Vocal Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. She is from the studio of Metropolitan Opera soprano, Judith Haddon.
