Jean Broekhuizen is enjoying her first season as an Ensemble member at
the Theater Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany. The season plan changed
slightly from what was previously announced, and in this season she
will sing Dorabella in COSI FAN TUTTE (which she premiered last spring
in Augsburg), Orfeo in Gluck's ORFEO, and Rosina in IL BARBIERE DI
SIVIGLIA. In order to prepare for her move to Germany, Jean spent
last spring studying German privately with a tutor, and then went over
the summer to the International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari,
Italy to work on her roles with her teacher, Trish McCaffrey. In
order to do this preparation, Jean sang for an Education Grant from
the MONC in New York, and was awarded $2500 to help her on her way.
