October 14th : 45th Annual Wisconsin District MONC, 10 A.M., Carroll College, Waukesha. Mark your calendars, this is sure to be another terrific year of singing! The judges this year will be: Sheri Greenawald - Director of the San Francisco Opera Center, Brian Dickie - General Director of the Chicago Opera Theatre, and Patricia Craig - former leading MET soprano AND the first Wisconsin District Winner to become a National Finalist.
October 21st: William Florescu Master Class, 10 A.M. - 5 P.M., Recital Hall, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Join the Florentine Opera's General Director for his own personal view of "Taking care of your side of the Table". A look at what singers CAN control for their auditions - technique, preparation, presentation and interpretation. This class will feature both students and professional singers and will surely be of interest to anyone who would like to learn more about the audition process. This event will be free and open to the public and is generously sponsored by Supporters of Opera Singers (SOS) and the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.
April 14th, 2007: Civic Music Association Recital, Dawes Studio Theatre, Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, Brookfield, 2 P.M. Supporters of Opera Singers will invite 5 singers from past District auditions to take part in a vocal coaching program they sponsor with CMA. The 5 singers will meet once a month with Lyric Opera of Chicago vocal coach, Tim Shaindlin, for a total of six months. This recital will be the culmination of the program. For a special treat the program will also feature past District Winners Kathleen Sonnentag and Greg Schmidt. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.
